History
The last queen of Vietnam, Queen Nam Phuong, was well loved and respected by the people under her rule. Nam Phuong Restaurant was named after her to honor her memory.
Nam Phuong Restaurant was founded by Executive Chef Tieng Nguyen. With a rich knowledge of traditional Vietnamese cuisine learned from her mother, combined with years of experience earned from a large variety of Asian establishments in the Philadelphia region, Nguyen opened her first Vietnamese restaurant in February of 1997.
The overwhelming success of her first restaurant at 749 Christian St., led Nguyen to continue expanding her cooking talent and opened her second at 1100 Eleventh St. in February of 2002 and her third restaurant at 1600 Washington Ave in November of 2005, all within the city of Philadelphia.
With over 20 years of experience as a restaurateur, Chef Nguyen is now seeking retirement, transferring her business and culinary knowledge to her son, David Nguyen.
David Nguyen graduated from Walnut Hill College with a Restaurant Management Degree and Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School with a Culinary Arts Degree. He also participated in the operation of several major restaurants in Philadelphia and Atlanta, including Jean Georges’ Spice Market. Upholding his mother’s work ethics and learning from her extraordinary talent, David Nguyen currently operates Nam Phuong of Norcross.
Together, the mother-and-son team sustains the Nam Phuong standard by ensuring high quality in taste, neatness, and presentation of each dish. Their passion for perfection results in tremendous support from food lovers everywhere. |
