We live in Augusta, 2+ hrs away from Atlanta.  We visit Atlanta often to see our friends, therefore we eat out quite often - mostly Chinese & Vietnamese.  By the way, I'm Vietnamese.  We have relatives in Orange County, CA, therefore we have eaten at various Asian restaurants across the country.  Even when I'm on a business trip, I go out of my way to eat at Asian restaurants just to see what other cities have to offer.  OK, so we have established I eat out quite a bit at mostly Asian rest.

Nam Phuong is one of the best VN restautrant I've dined at.  Although we've only been here twice.  One with friends for diner and we ordered the family diner - great variety of dishes in the family diner pkg.  They give you options in some of those dished.  Then this past weekend, we had lunch.

Awesome authentic Vietnamese food.  The decor is very hip & clean.  The service was above average for an Asian rest.  The Host was very pleasant & courteous.  Price was OK - moderate.

I just Googled them & found out they originated from Philla.  My dad has eaten at the one in Philly when he visit his friends.  He says that it's one of their favorite VN places.

Try it, you will love it too if you really like authentic VN food.  My wife loves the shrimp Summer roll for an appetizer.  My wife makes a mean Summer roll too, but she said theirs were better.  It had all the ingredients, even the fresh chives with its tail sticking out of the roll.

It's the real deal, believe me.  Enjoy folks.

Being vegetarian, life can be very rough at times. Your choices for what you eat are often limited and to top that, there are very few resturants that serve vegetarian dishes [especially down here in the South when Southern food often consist of some sort of meat product]. So if you are like me, you somehow one time or another, found yourself looking like an idiot standing inside a resturant [known to be the BIGGEST beef place in America] ordering the "Chicken Taco Salad without the Chicken." Seriously? Most resturants I've been to never offered vegetarian dishes that would satisfy my tastebuds. Sometimes being a vegetarian, I feel like I'm better off just going outside and munching down some grass like a cow [moo]. But if you were lucky enough to find a resturant that served vegetarian cusines, the dishes were often blan and lacked that bold explosion of flavor.

However, my perspective changed the day I first step foot inside Nam Phuong Resturant. I was flabbergasted by the cusines that they had to offer!!! "HOLY COW! Really?? Could this seriously be a resturant that offered more than just a salad?..." I said to myself as I was chuckling inside my head. Man, I felt like I was in Vegetarian Heaven!! But not just that, but the Vegetarian dishes also took up a good chunk of the menu. This meant that I had more choices to choose from, and from the look of what was written in black and white text, I knew everything on the menu would taste absolutely divine.

One of the first dishes that I tried there was salt and pepper tofu [I think that was the name of it]. The tofu was soft and looked to me as if it was breaded and fried...but I'm not quite sure how they did it though. I guess the secret lies in the hands of the amazing and talented Owner/Chef. However, PLEASE try the dish for yourself. I do recommend it if you just happen to be a fan of tofu. The tofu was cut into bite size squares which made it easy to eat. The plate was adorn with a jalapeno pepper garnish and served with freshly cooked white rice on the side. Though this dish was too hot [temperature hot] for my tastebuds, it still tasted delectable once you let it cool down a bit. Each bite I took of the tofu was like a fiesta in my mouth. It was a like  Mount St. Helen had errupted in my mouth and left behind a massive explosion of flavor, texture and boldness. But moreover, after eating just one dish at this resturant, I can truly say to any resturant that had ever "attempt" to make and perfect vegetrian dishes will never be able to withstand the cusines from Nam Phuong.

Though I have been talking quite a bit about the vegetarian aspect of thier menu, Nam Phuong Resturant is in fact NOT a Vegetarian resturant. Yes, it does offter quite a variety of vegetarian dishes but there are also about 200 dishes to choose from. I've heard great compliments about the meat dishes as well as the seafood dishes....all in which you MUST try out!

Nam Phuong resturant is definitely top-notched and has also set the bar rather high for any newcomers as well as other Vietnamese Resturants that you may have eaten at in the past. I will honestly tell you, it doesn't get any better than this my friend. This resturant will definitely open your eyes to a brand new perspective...beecause people often look at Vietnamese resturants as a noodle soup place and Nam Phuong resturant is MORE than that! Nam Phuong Resturant goes BEYOND the horizon for the fact that it takes you away from the sterotypical Vietnamese Resturant and offers you dishes that are different, diverse, new and fresh. Next time you decide to eat out, consider Nam Phuong Resturant as your first choice. I promise you, you will leave out of there with a brand new definition to the meaning behind Vietnamese Cusines as well as a very statsified stomach.

Wow!  Have I been transported back to Saigon 1975 in a time machine?  Forget about pho, bun, banh mi and other stuff that is ubiquitously known as Vietnamese food.  Don't get me wrong. Those Viet food are good but they are "fast street food" to google up when you're on the run.

This place is the bomb!  Vietnamese food as it was meant to be enjoyed and savored with family and friends in a large group.  Just come and look around... the clientele will let you know that the food is more than good.  It's fabulous and ethereal.  No super-sized spring rolls with gooey brown sauce to reassure you that your 3 bucks have gone a long way.  The spring rolls here are fresh, springy with the right amount of firmness with the "nuoc leo" sauce that will not overpower the rolls.  Well, that was the start, you will have to try other non-pho, bun, banh mi items to learn more about Vietnamese food.

I would recommend the duck salad with banana blossoms, shaken beef and fried rice (orgasmic!), crepe with a heapful of herb salad tray...etc.  It's so light, fresh, and healthy.  Vietnamese food as it is meant to be savored and enjoyed.

Came here this past Sunday with a few friends since we heard through other friends that this place was worth a visit.

While my wife went with her usual pho, I decided to try their "fish congee", as I was curious to how it would compare with Cantonese style congee.  We also had an appetizer of summer rolls (shrimp and chicken)- it was okay, nothing crazy special.  (3)

The pho ($6.50)was rather disappointing- the broth was watered down.  No other way to put it.  It really tasted like someone dumped an (unnecessary) extra bucket of water into the pot.   Tendon and tripe were okay...but since there's no flavor in the broth, guess what, no flavor in the meat either. (2)

The fish congee ($6.50) was a pleasant surprise- they used broken rice for the congee, so the texture was almost cous-cous like except in a broth/soup format.  There was a hint of sweetness and the dried onions they used made the soup very fragrant.  They used decent portions of fish filets that actually didn't taste like they were out of the freezer.  Some of the filets had one or two bones left inside- it made me suspect that they'd fileted their fish themselves.  If not for the huge menu, I'd try this one again!  They included fried donuts (yu tiao) to go with the soup for an extra dollar.  Definitely recommended. (4)

One issue- While our two friends got their dishes in ~10-15 minutes, we didn't get ours until probably 30 minutes after ordering- WTH.  We had pho, just like our friends did....

The place was packed on Sunday, and they had to start using their 'extended' room...for a Vietnamese place this spot looks pretty upscale, though the prices don't reflect it.

Fantastic food. Wonderfully accommodating with separate checks for groups. I just wish it wasn't so far from Midtown!

We used to eat at a nice Viet Namese restaurant in Midtown, but since moving out to Dunwoody, have not been able to find one we liked.  Enter Nam Phuong.

This is a really nice place - definitely a cut above the Pho places.  The decor is very elegant with soothing colors and soft lighting. But it is very casual, so don't let the nice environment put you off.  I was surprised at how large the restaurant is - it can definitely hold a crowd.

The service was friendly and helpful.  The staff went above and beyond to please.  We went in for a late lunch (about 1:30 PM) and there seemed to be a lot of staff available to serve us.  We never had to wait for anything.

We had the Dinner for 2 and we were very pleasantly surprised.  (We usually don't order a pre-set menu, but we wanted to try a range of dishes, so this was the best option for us.)  The spring rolls were good - but the dishes that followed were so impressive that we quickly forgot about the appetizer.  We had greenbeans sauteed with beef, sweet and sour soup (with many large, juicy shrimp) and carmelized catfish.  Now, I am not a catfish fan, but this was delicious.  The sauce was salty - but not too salty and the catfish was tender and well prepared.  I loved the sweet and sour soup - so many complex flavors "sweet and sour " certainly does not adequately describe it.  My son and I both loved the green beans, which sauteed with beef had a wonderful flavor.

The portions are large and we completely enjoyed the experience.  We have told several people about the restaurant and we are already planning our next visit this weekend.

In short, Go!

As an American married to a Vietnamese lady, I know somewhat about vietnamese culture and their cuisine. We try to go out at least once a week to try new restaurants and experience new food. We're not people who often write reviews and provide our feedbacks, but this is a true exception. The decor of nam phuong is nothing like those you would see in the regular asian eateries. Its contemporary atmosphere, high columns, and soft lightings bring you a taste of high class dining, one that won't break your wallet. Most menu items are less than $10, with portions that can last you for at least two meals.

Having been to other casual Vietnamese restaurants before, I was surprise at the large improvement in service at Nam Phuong. Our waiter was personable. He could smile a bit more, but I'm not complaining. The food makes up for everything.

We ordered the family dinner for 2. Unlike my wife, Pho was never my favorite, so I'm happy to know that there's finally a restaurant who caters a lot more than just the usual noodle soups. Their sweet and sour soup was packed with flavors that went beyond "sweet and sour." Their clay pot was sweet and savory, perfectly balanced with the rice. We're going back this weekend to try other menu items. I highly recommend this restaurant to all the foodies out there.

I have been to the one in South Philly Viet Town before and really liked it. This branch of the Nam Phoung empire was equally impressive.

Pho was one size for $6.50 with the choise of three meats. I picked, Eye of Round, Flank and Meat ball. Eye of round was VERY good. I was very impressed with the size of bowl for the price.

I also ordered the spring rolls which were very good, but very very small at 2 for $3.

Overall this ties Pho Dai Loi as my Atlanta Viet spot. It is seemingly cleaner and newer as well. When OTP this is my prime pick. I will be back. Place may be 5 star potential when I try some other specialties. Would also like to see more then two 1 inch spring rolls for my $3.

Never thought I'd tried this place, but I was craving for some noodle soup so I thought I gave this place a try. A simpleton like me only think Pho = only Vietnamese food... so I opened Nam Phuong's door wanting to get some slurping actions done.

To my surprise, they serve more than just pho! (duh!) The menu is huge and tons of varieties of food, I'd say about 200 items. I was desperately looking for pho but only to find a tiny small selections for it.

But, that item # 6.1 Beef Stew Noodles was calling my name there... for $6.50. :D

Wow, I LOVE that stew! They really slow-cooked that meat, tender and easy to chew, full of flavor! Not to mention 5 big pieces of stew cube with 2" thick, each! That is a lot of MOO!! Another thing I like about it is they also provided basil leaves, janopeneo pepper and lime. Plenty of carrots, green onions, cilantro... the typical toppings for pho soup (minus carrots).

The broth was great but a little too thick to make that slurping sound. I will probably order some white rice to go with it. The noodles were a little too soft but tasteful.

After that bowl of soup I was sucking water like I were in the desert for months and the wait staff were very quick to fill that water goblet.

Pretty good experience overall, I will definitely be back! :)

Went for weekday dinner. Ordered:

1.10: banh xeo
10.5: com tam suon dac biet
15.1: ga xao cary
16.1: bo luc lac

Now, one of those was a Vietnamese crepe; one was some kind of grilled pork with shredded pork and egg; one was some kind of chicken lemongrass curry something; and the last one was... shaken beef dish.

The Vietnamese crepe is interesting, it looks like a huge dumpling, 12 inches of fried goodness in length, and the crepe itself is wrapped up in some kind of leafy greenery and dipped in special-made warmed fish sauce. Good stuff.

Also ordered cafe sua da (iced coffee)- really freaking good, went down like buttah, if buttah was made out of condensed milk and REALLY REALLY strong coffee.

I think I need to go again and become a fan.

Really friendly service.

Clean bathrooms, clean space. No disgusting smells emanating from anywhere.

By: Ken L
My dad was a little suspicious of Vietnamese food when I brought him here at first. We ordered the set dinner for 2 and ended up with egg rolls with fish sauce, sauteed green beans with beef, spare ribs, and this giant bowl of tangy shrimpy soup.

Make sure you dip your egg rolls in the fish sauce. Wrap it up in the cabbage that comes with it too if you want along with the pickled vegetables it comes with.

The soup was really delicious and had a very interesting flavor. Needless to say, I was stuffed to the max and could barely move after eating everything.

The service is very friendly, although sometimes when it gets busy, they may forget about you from time to time.

Last thing I want to say about this place is...
TRY THE SINH TO (smoothie)... both times I've been there I've gotten the mung bean sinh to. They blend coconut milk with mung beans and ice and it tastes like this mung bean/coconut milk/tapioca dessert my mom makes. They have other flavors too like avocado which I'll have to try. If you don't like coconut milk however, you probably will want to stay away.

I'll definitely be back! Thanks for opening my dads eyes about Vietnamese food. He used to think it was all Pho.

Nam Phuong breaths life back into vietnamese food in Norcross.

For my mother's birthday, we made dinner reservations at Nam Phoung. The restaurant is separated into a main dining area and a banquet room for large parties or wedding receptions. We opted for the banquet room for our 20+ guest.

The restaurant is nicely decorated, warm colors and neutral artwork on the wall. This is a big step up for our vietnamese community. Anyone who has been to a vietnamese restaurant, especially a pho restaurant can vouch for me, the decor is pretty tacky. Bright pastel colored walls, mismatching tables and chairs, ornate gold and crystal chandeliers, etc.

Nam Phuong's menu is loaded with tasty appetizers, rice plates, and noodle soups.

For spring roll lovers, try their three course dish (serves 2-3 ppl). Side of fresh green vegetables with pickled radish and carrot. Wrap three different types of meat (shrimp, pork, beef) in rice paper and dip in your choice of dipping sauce. At $25 per order, it's a bargain for you and two friends.

I was there last night with the Inox and Galatea Crew. We ordered the set menu for 10 and it was plenty of good foods to go around for everybody. Don't forget to order your cafe sua da (Vietnamese coffee) after dinner.
By: Adam S
WOW! Nina Nguyen and the folks from Inox made this a time to remember. The VN food rocked! A good time was had by all in our party of 10 (at least I did!).

Let me start off by saying that I'm from Philly, original home of Nam Phuong. Also, I'm Vietnamese, and I eat a lot of Vietnamese food, and I'm awesome. So now that I've established my credibility, on to my review.

If Yelp allowed half stars, I'd really give this place 4.5 stars. While the food is as good as I remembered (before ownership switched hands, note my review of PHL Nam Phuong), the service is still spotty. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, since it's a fairly new opening with such a large staff to maintain. I'm not sure what Conkhiko v. was saying so I don't know if I'm agreeing or disagreeing. But when I go to an Italian restaurant, I'd like an Italian waiter, Greek restaurant, Greek waiter, Viet restaurant, Viet waiter...and so forth. It's an indication of authenticity. Plus I'm there to eat, not verbally express my hopes and dreams. Anyway, I heard that Nam Phuong had moved to the ATL so I kept an eye out for it when I went to visit family in the area.

The food is fantastic, and has not skipped a beat since their departure. As previous reviewers recommended, the shaken beef, clay pot fish, and crepe are all great. However, another signature dish there is the appetizer trio (Ba Vi). It consists of the shrimp on sugar cane, beef wrapped in grape leaves, and grilled meatballs. This dish comes with rice paper, veggies, rice vermicelli, and a variety of dipping sauces. And if it adds any incentive for anyone, all of those things I mentioned are hand rolled (there's something beautiful about non-assembly line, characteristically misshapen-ed food).

The decor was a bit shocking for me. Not because I'm classless and only eat at places where the food is wrapped in paper, but because it was such a vast improvement of the original location. Forgive me for the constant comparison of the old and new, but it's a world apart. Honestly, I'm a little envious that they chose to move to ATL to open this spot. Philly lacks a classy, spacious, authentic, Vietnamese place. Note: I said "authentic". And according to my family who do live in the area, ATL had lacked the same until now.

I wish Nam Phuong the best in ATL, but they're always welcomed back to the home of the World Effing Champions!!

By: Kelly K
After watching an episode of Anthony Bourdain in Vietnam, I had to try the Vietnamese Crepe.

Nam Phuong had it as an appetizer instead of a meal for $7.50 - but the portions here are huge! The crepe was made of mung beans and it had sprouts and pork inside of the crunchy crepe. It was delicious with lettuce, mint, and sesame leaves dipped in their special fish sauce.

Their shaken beef was also out of this world! I had shaken beef at other Vietnamese restaurants, but Nam Phuong's was really tender with bold flavors. They even had special lemon pepper dipping sauce that really complimented the shaken beef's spices.

If you only know Pho (noodle soup), I recommend getting any of their grilled pork with vermicelli or catfish in claypot dishes.

The restaurant's atmosphere is very contemporary, with a nice bar and chandelier. The service was excellent - not like the ones in regular Pho restaurants where they turn over tables really fast.

For a light desert, try their homemade Vietnamese yogurt. It's so rich and creamy!

By: Erin C
Normally, I'm not a fan of Vietnamese restaurants because all Atlanta seems to have is pho places... but Nam Phuong is awesome.

The decor is very classy and tastefully done unlike a good majority of Vietnamese restaurants in the area. At first impression, the restaurant seems like it would overcharge for their food because the place looks so fancy.... but this isn't the case at all. Everything is priced soooooo cheaply.

So hmm... would you rather spend about $7 for crappy food in a seemingly shady looking restaurant.... or spend $7 here at a really nice place?

My favorite dish here was the shaking beef. Very tender and juicy and goes well with the lemon sauce on the side. My second favorite was the claypot catfish dish... not sure what it was called, but that stuff is freakin' awesome when you mix the rice in the pot with leftover sauce.

All in all.... great food for a fantastic price!

I'm so glad we found this Vietnamese restaurant. I've always seen it going to Bento, but never been inside. The restaurant is clean and big. It's a great place that can accommodate large parties and especially great for kids. You don't feel so cramped inside. The restaurant also keeps a nice cool temperature inside with the AC blasting which is exactly what I need on a hot summer day eating pho

I had my usual pho bo vien (with beef meatballs). It was better than most of the other pho joints in the area. The meatballs were nice and plump. The bean sprouts were fresh and not wilted. My noodles were not overcooked. They have a ton of other Vietnamese dishes on their menu that I'd like to try. The place was packed with Vietnamese diners, which was a good sign.

Will definitely be back to try other things on their menu

By: Eb O
I just really really really like this place! I've been a few times now, and I'm just excited that it's open until 11pm. For a "major city" like ATL is supposed to be, there surely aren't very many places to dine at night. Maybe ATL is the city that does sleep, and early at that.

Nam's food is delightfully non greasy, flavorful and the portions are great. I've had the fried rice dishes, grilled BBQ salad, some of specialities, and more.

My favorite dishes are their Wonton Soup--hands down the BEST tasting Wonton soup that I've had in Atlanta. The Wontons are plentiful, lots of cilantro and green onions, and they even add shrimp to the soup.

The Shrimp Lemongrass is so so so delish. It is spicy, and has bamboo shoots, pieces of chii and fresh lemongrass that gives it an awesome kick. We wash down our meals with the Thai Bubble Tea, and finish off dinner with the Sua Chu (sp?) the Yogurt without Syrup.

It is refreshing, and cools off the palate after a spicy meal. All of the dishes are not spicy, and the Pho here is also excellent.

Must Try- Grilled BBQ special salad w. Fish Sauce, Ba La Lot, Shrimp Lemongrass, Wonton Soup, Yogurt, and more!

Great for family, great for group outings, and great for gaining weight at 10:30pm when your ass should be in bed, not craving Nam.

Wrappers delight + asian families + stinky dipping sauce= great meal that you don't feel guilty about

This is a review for their banh hoi (sheet of rice noodles) and the meats that accompany it with. I'm sure you guys call it triple happiness or tri-happy endings?

Let's get back on subject... banh hoi thit nuong, chao tom, and bo la lot (grilled pork, shrimp paste on sugar cane, and ground beef wrapped in la lot leaves). This is what they're known for.... definitely get this. It's a big platter so 2-3 people can handle it. I comes with tons of fresh greens and your pickled accoutrement. Also, if you're bad ass like I am, you will get the mam nem. It's basically fermented fish sauce with the fish in it, blended with pineapple juice. So DOPE. If not you can get the peanuty sauce.....

Boba tea is decent, service is pretty good for an asian place, and the meal will cost you around 30 including tip.

*don't get pho or chao (rice porridge).... really... don't....

By: Addy C
Surprisingly more upscale than expected - I'd compare this place to the likes of Chateau de Saigon (for ambience & menu). The restaurant was packed, mostly Vietnamese which is always a good sign. The flavors were delicious and I can definitely see myself returning to try some of their other dishes.

Apparently the wraps are very popular. I saw several tables order the "three delights", and several of the reviews also raved about that dish. We just got one of them - "ground shrimp w/ sugar cane" ($10.95). Even more delicious than it sounds - loved the smoky & charcoal flavor of the shrimp, combined w/ the herbs (mostly mint, and sadly no cilantro or basil), pickled veggies, & vermicelli. I love rice paper wraps - not only tasty but very light & healthy ... except I could probably eat a huge quantity of them :)

Thanks to Yelp for guiding us on our other selections:

DUCK SALAD ($8.95) - another light & refreshing dish very similar to my favorite dish at C'om, the "Com Goi" except w/ duck.

SALT & PEPPER TOFU ($7.95) - wow, this was another dish that tasted so much better than it sounds. It brought back memories of Ginger's Lemongrass Tofu - the tofu literally just melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this one.

CARMELIZED CATFISH IN CLAYPOT" ($8.95) - great flavor (although a little on the salty side) but we were very disappointed at how little fish we got. I had the same situation happen to me at Chateau de Saigon where there were probably only a few bites worth of fish. Is it that hard to catch catfish? Not worth the money, sorry.

Next time I'd definitely like to try the beef stew, shaken beef (for comparison), and Vietnamese crepes. Overall 4 stars for delicious food, very reasonable prices, and nice ambience. Great choice for family-style dining.

FYI - they're located at the far left side of the shopping center w/ Hong Kong Supermarket.

Nam Phuong is a delightful Vietnamese spot in ATL. There are few things that distinguish itself from your typical OTP Vietnamese spots. It is located in a strip mall but the place itself is very clean and nice

The menu is expansive and the hardest thing to do is decide what to order. We went with a family dinner for 4. (and had 3 people there) It was MORE than enough food. (The family dinners are perfect for group sharing)

Spring Rolls: Good but these tend to be good everywhere

Papaya Salad: Really good - a papaya salad with shrimp AND pork

Sweet & Sour Soup with shrimp - very interesting broth - less intense than a typical Pho broth and unlike any Chinese soups i've had. I wasnt crazy about it because I didnt think the broth had a great flavor but others loved it.

Caramalized Catfish: This was very good but very rich. This is a traditional dish i've had before with other kinds of fish. Served in a hot bowl.

Shaking Beef: Really solid and plenty of beef. Good blend of sweet and acid flavor in it and not too much fish sauce in it.

Salt & Pepper Squid: Basically a Vietnamese fried calamari

dessert: This was terrible - the small jello texture squares. Try one because they are strange and interesting, texture and flavor fall short though unless you grew up with these things.

All around great experience and I intend to go back and try other menu items. I wouldnt go here for Pho only because there are so many amazing Pho places in the ATL area. But for traditional Vietnamese dishes there is this place, Nam and C'om that are top of my list.

By far the best authentic restaurant in town. Definitely give this place a try and you have to order their Nam Phuong Ba Vi. It is so mouth watering delicious.

Found this restaurant on yelp on a Sat nite when Pappadeaux's was too busy, and it was great! Good service, cold beer, and fresh tasty food. We had the namesake Nam Phuong Ba Vi and it was plenty of food for a good price.

We ate here after reading a blog on line. All I can say is that it was a great experience. The waiter was very helpful and explained in detail.the Ban Vi. or "Three Delights" dish that we chose We wrapped succulent pork, beef in la lot leaves and shrimp paste in rice wrappers with mint, basil , lettuce, cucumbers and carrots. The three sauces that came with this dish were good but I really liked the fish sauce with pineapple. There was plenty of food and it felt so healthy as we ate. We finished full but not over stuffed. I particulary loved their mango smoothie made with real mango. Not over priced but looks up scale.
